Opening the Doors to a World of Good

Fourth Annual Halloween Doors & More

Family Fun Gala Benefiting Community PedsCare® is Saturday, October 18, 2008

Jacksonville, Fla. - Two new experiences— the Witches Brew Soda Shop and the Seussical Salon—will highlight the much anticipated fourth-annual Halloween Doors & More, Saturday, October 18 from 3–8 p.m. at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall.  As in years past, this family-centered fundraiser for pediatric palliative and hospice care will feature trick-or-treating for toys at larger-than-life doors, live theatre, the MonsterMash family disco and a smorgasbord of kid-friendly foods. But this year, attendees also will have the opportunity to sample ice cream floats at the 1950s-style Witches Brew diner or enhance their costumes with Seussical hair styles and face painting.

Tickets are available by calling 904.886.3883 or by visiting www.communityhospice.com.  Prices are $100 per adult and $50 per child age 12 and under.  Children under the age of two are free.  Tickets sell out each year, so getting them early is advised.

Proceeds from the event benefit Community PedsCare, a pediatric palliative and hospice care program for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Halloween Doors & More is a unique, fun and festive (not scary or spooky) event.  Children trick-or-treat at 14-feet-high and eight-feet-wide Fantasy Doors where they can meet the likes of the “Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe” and many more storybook friends.  No Halloween party would be complete without a trip to Candyland, where children may fill their goodie bags from a selection of thousands of pieces of wrapped candy.  The Trick-or-Treat Theatre features live stage performances for all to enjoy, and let’s not forget dancing in the MonsterMash Family Disco!

The event is organized by a committee of dedicated volunteers. Ingrid Perdikis, Jill McGriff and Lara Siewert are serving as Chairs for the 2008 Halloween Doors & More, with the Acosta-Rua Family as Honorary Chairs.  Sponsors this year include: The Arnold Family, The Bower Family, Heather and Ben Crane, Dubow Family Foundation, Falloon Family, Tabitha and Jim Furyk, JELD-WEN, Lazarra Family Foundation, McBride Family, Nemours Children’s Clinic, Petway Family Foundation, PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Wives Association, Inc., PRI Productions, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLC, SkyeTec, Linda and David Stein, Stellar Foundation, Dannehl and Kevin Twomey, UBS, University of Florida/Jacksonville Pediatrics, Washington Mutual, Weaver Family Foundation, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.  Sponsorships are still available.
