Latest News: 2008 Halloween Doors & More Event Raises Record $440,000 for Community PedsCare Jacksonville, Fla. - Community Hospice of Northeast Florida’s fourth-annual Halloween Doors & More raised more than $440,000 for its children’s program, Community PedsCare. More than 1,600 people attended the family gala held at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall on October 18. Community PedsCare (pronounced peedscare) is a pediatric palliative and hospice care program for local children suffering from life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
“The funds raised by the Halloween Doors & More event are very significant to the operation of the Community PedsCare program. Since the event was started four years ago, proceeds have exceeded $1.6 million,” said Community Hospice Foundation Executive Director, DeAnn Collins. “This event has helped us double the size of Community PedsCare which has meant that we are able to help more than 100 local children and their families,” she added.
“Integral to the success of this year’s Halloween Doors & More was its team of hard-working co-chairs—Ingrid Perdikis, Jill McGriff and Lara Siewert and their more than 250 dedicated volunteers,” stated Susan Ponder-Stansel, president and CEO of Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.
The Acosta-Rua family served as the honorary chairs of the 2008 Halloween Doors & More.
